The Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association (VYEA) presented the 2013 Gold Star Award to 200 outstanding Vietnamese brands at a ceremony in Hanoi on September 2.
Prominent attendees included Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and Head of CPVCC Commission for Mass Mobilisation Ha Thi Khiet.
Speaking at the ceremony, VYEA Chairman Mai Huu Tin said the Gold Star Award was first launched in 2003 for the purpose of encouraging Vietnam business enterprises to develop high-quality products and increase their competiveness in order to establish a trademark for their goods, services and brands on domestic and international markets during the process of international economic integration. More than 1,700 outstanding brands and products have been honoured in the last ten years.
The 200 brands awarded this year, from 29 sectors and industries, created VND743 trillion in revenue in 2012. They owned total assets worth over VND71 trillion, contributed VND46 trillion to the State budget and employed 466,000 workers, he added.
This year’s Top 10 brands are: Thaco Truong Hai, Hoa Sen Group, Dam Phu My Fertiliser, PVEP, Vietnam Rubber Group, FPT, Viettinbank, Traphaco, Thien Long, and Vissan.
The Top 200 outstanding brands were honoured for their quality and efficiency of operations as well as their high sense of social responsibility.
In his speech, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the efforts made by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation, and the VYEA towards the successful organisation of the 2013 Vietnam Gold Star awards. The Deputy PM also praised the contributions of the 200 exellent enterprises, congratulating them on their success.
Deputy PM Phuc affirmed that the Party and State consistently work to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese business community’s fast and sustainable development. The country has strived to overcome challenges, obtaining noteworthy achievements thanks in large part to its domestic entrepreneurs, he said.
The Deputy PM also expressed his belief that young entrepreneurs will improve their knowledge, business administration skills and competitive capacity, while applying technological advances and information technology to production and business management.
